About Blake

Blake was born in Nashville, TN on October 14, 1985. At the impressionable age of six his mother remarried and the quiet and loving life he had known was effectively erased from existence. Things were turbulent at home to say the least so as an escape Blake began watching horror films and writing short stories. He was first published at age 9 for an essay on famed cryptid The Loch Ness monster. He continued to write and at the age of 13 learned how to play guitar. By the time Blake graduated from high school in 2004, he was an accomplished musician with several art projects and published stories in his extensive portfolio. He enrolled at Tennessee State University and majored in English. During his sophomore year at the university he left school for a time when he landed a recording deal and became an in-demand session and touring guitarist.

Blake toured across the country and recorded two full length albums, four EPs and one live EP before he retired from the music business in 2013, with a popular music video and two radio singles under his belt. He went back and earned his Bachelor's Degree in English, and in 2014 he began work on his second novel, "Razor's Edge," a fictional interpretation of the origin of the Freddy Krueger character from the 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' films. Utilizing events and situations that were canonical and the notes of his friend, best-selling author and comic book writer Andy Mangels, he fashioned a story of the events that led to Krueger's murder and subsequent resurrection. In 2015 Blake wrote "The Within," a novella chronicling the demonic possession of a teenage boy in Southern California. In 2016 "The Within" was published by Fear Front Publishing and Blake made several guest appearances and podcasts, which ultimately led to his induction into the Hall of Horror in Las Vegas in 2016. He was presented with a plaque for "Notable Contribution to Horror" along with his friends and fellow 'Nightmare' alumni Mick Strawn (production designer for Nightmares 3-5, Freddy's Nightmares, Blade), Nick Benson (Dead Heat, Nightmare 4, Society) and Doug Stewart (Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers The Movie, Batman & Robin, Alien: Resurrection).

On December 14, 2017 Blake announced that he and Mick Strawn and were co-writing a book about the making of 'A Nightmare on Elm Street 4' called "Behind the Screams: The Dream Masters Revealed." Within 48 hours the announcement went viral on social media and they announced that work would begin on January 1, 2018. Eight days later articles about the book were published on JoBlo and BloodyDisgusting, and several other sites began asking to cover it. On January 19th, the horror site ScareTissue published a detailed article complete with pictures. Look for their book in August 2018; they are releasing it in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the very film they are writing about, 'A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.'
